Sharon Haanes Bryant’s single panel cartoons for ROCKYDALE UNIVERSE have garnered an international following of readers young and old. Sharon’s drawn worlds have taken her readers as far away as the NORTH POLE ACADEMY (World’s Top School) and as close to home as the fictional cul-de-sac of ROCKYDALE, inspired by her own small Vermont town, which has itself become a destination for fans hoping to stay at the “Rockydale Tourist Home” or meet up with its diverse residents at “Ken’s Café.” Even Sharon admits that “walking around town feels, at times, like I’ve stepped into one of my own cartoons.” And every December 1st, fans of ROCKYDALE UNIVERSE join Sharon in the yuletide extravaganza of the holiday season, her annual ADVENT CALENDAR BLOG that offers 24 days of Christmas crazy for her beloved readership across the globe. Sharon can be found most mornings sketching at the “artists only” table at Ken’s Café. If you’re passing through Rockydale, be sure to stop in and say “hi.”
The drawings in ROCKYDALE UNIVERSE were created on a variety of papers using watercolor, marker pen, colored pencils, gouache, and pen & ink with digitized color.
Rockydale Universe is currently closed. The regulars at Ken’s Cafe have all taken leave of their senses, donned plaid, and headed North to commune with bears.
