Dear Friends and fellow Rockydaleans,
This last post marks the end of Meanwhile, the Little Red Squirrel, Rockydale Christmas 2020. I have never been so excited about a new story or so scattered in my attempt to paint it! Thank you for joining in anyway. There is so much more to the Little Red Squirrel’s story that I want to share with you, but it will have to wait for another time. Meanwhile, before you go, I wanted to tell those who may not know it that Little Red Squirrel is based on a true story. For the past four Christmases, a local little red squirrel has been stealing our Christmas lights. He’s taken more that 400 lights. And while we find them occasionally, buried in the tomato patch or under a pile of dried leaves, we haven’t found a fraction of the lights he’s run off with–not even close. As chance would have it, I saw him in the tree outside my study window a few years back and took a video, which I include below.
